Fresh xenophobic attacks reportedly leave 1 dead, 4 injured in South Africa
Another Nigerian was reportedly killed in South Africa on Thursday, while four others were injured.
The attack was the latest in a series of xenophobic attack by dome locals.
The victim, Razak Ajao was allegedly mobbed to death by locals in Polokwane, Limpopo Province of South Africa.
The incident was confirmed by the Acting Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr Martins Cobham.
“I can confirm that a Nigerian, Razak Ajao, an auto mechanic was killed and four others injured,” Mr Cobham said.
“The Nigerian mission has formally registered a protest to the South African ministry of foreign affairs on this sad incident.
“The ministry said they would get back to the mission and that is the situation we are now,” he added.
Cobham said two of the injured Nigerians had been treated and discharged from the hospital while the others are still receiving medical attention.
