First Lady, Ribadu to Lead National Prayer Session Against Economic Hardship

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu are set to lead a national prayer event to Address Nigeria’s Challenges. The initiative, “Seeking the Intervention of God in Nigeria’s Affairs,” aims to unite citizens in prayer and reflection for a week.

According to reports, the prayer event is a collaborative effort that includes both Christian and Muslim leaders, underscoring a collective approach to tackling the nation’s pressing issues. Segun Afolorunikan, the director-general of the National Prayer Forum (NPF), announced the initiative during a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday, November 4.

“This week of prayer is crucial for fostering unity and seeking divine guidance,” Afolorunikan stated. “We believe that by the end of this prayer session, our leaders and citizens will gain the strength and wisdom needed to confront our common adversities.”

The prayer sessions will take place at notable venues across the capital. Christians are invited to gather at the National Ecumenical Centre, while Muslims will convene at the National Mosque in Abuja. A special feature of the Muslim gathering includes an ambitious plan for 313 participants to recite the Quran 2,191 times throughout the week.

Afolorunikan emphasized that the initiative was born out of extensive consultations with various community leaders, including the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and traditional figures like the Sultan of Sokoto. This collaborative effort aims not only to seek divine intervention but also to strengthen the bonds of unity among Nigeria’s diverse religious communities.
