FG’s $100 Billion Initiative Aims to Create 2 Million Jobs in the Creative Economy
The Federal Government has introduced an eight-point strategy aimed at generating at least $100 billion annually and creating over two million jobs. The plan, revealed by Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, during a roundtable event with local and international investors in Lagos, envisions a staggering 400% growth in the creative economy by 2027.

Musawa outlined the comprehensive 8-Point Plan and Roadmap, which encompasses a range of initiatives including skills development, robust policy frameworks, effective governance, strategic partnerships, ambitious growth targets, business environment enhancements, cultural heritage preservation, and sustainability efforts.

Despite the immense potential of Nigeria’s creative industry, which currently contributes a modest $5 billion to the national economy, the sector is still in its developmental stages. The plan is designed to address these gaps and unlock the industry’s full potential.

To drive this transformation, the Ministry has identified 14 key initiatives categorized under four strategic pillars: Technology, Infrastructure and Funding; International Culture Promotion; and Intellectual Property Monetisation. These initiatives are expected to propel sector growth and increase government revenue by an additional $10 billion to $20 billion.

Musawa emphasized that this plan not only aims to amplify the economic contributions of the creative sector but also to position Nigeria as a global leader in creativity and innovation. The ambitious strategy marks a step forward in harnessing the power of Nigeria’s rich cultural resources and creative talent for national growth.
