FG hands over National stadium to LASG after poor maintenance

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the release of National Stadium, Surulere to the Lagos State Government.

Governor Ambode requested to take total charge of the stadium when Buhari visited in March.

The state government will now take charge of giving the degraded stadium a standard outlook to enable it host international sporting tournaments.

Ambode, according to Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Kweku Tandoh, has also put in place plans to replace the artificial turf at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere and Campus Mini Stadium, Lagos Island with natural grass in preparation for the facilities to meet the required standard to host the Confederation of African Football (CAF) matches.
