FG Declares December 25, 26, and January 1 as Public Holidays
The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations.
This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement signed by Magdalene Ajani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, on Monday.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt greetings to Nigerians, urging citizens to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity during the festive season.
“The Christmas season is a good moment for both spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us demonstrate kindness and extend goodwill to one another, irrespective of our differences,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of strengthening family and community bonds, emphasising that harmony at all levels contributes to national development.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to national prosperity, Tunji-Ojo said, “The Federal Government is committed to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation.”
