Fayose reportedly nursing plans to dump PDP
Outgoing Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose is reportedly nursing plans to dump the People’s Democratic Party anytime soon.
Punch reports that Fayose threatened to leave the party following the National Convention held on Saturday in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
“After consultations, I will speak clearly to Nigerians,” Fayose is quoted as saying.
The unconventional governor had initially planned to contest the party’s presidential ticket, but said he was shelving the ambition as a mark of solidarity with his deputy, Kolapo Olusola who lost the governorship election in the state to Kayode Fayemi.
It is unclear where Fayose would pitch tent if he eventually carries out his reported threat, but he could decide to join the ruling party, APC.
Such move would be highly interesting, as Fayose has been declared wanted by the EFCC after the expiration of his tenure over corruption allegations, with many believing that the Federal Government was the mastermind.
