Farm workers kidnap, kill boss for sacking their colleague who stole eggs
Police have arrested farm workers who allegedly ganged up to kidnap and kill their boss in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Police say the group had collected about a million Naira ransom before killing their victim, a poultry farm owner identified as Tomilade Sunday Aladeniyi.
The victim’s niece, Funmilayo said one of the suspects had stolen eggs from her uncle’s farm and was sacked, only for them to gang up against him.
“My uncle is a farmer, in his early 40s and a father of 3. He was kidnapped and brutally murdered by his workers,” she said.
“They asked for ransom which was given to them but they still killed him.”
Aladeniyi’s lifeless body was later recovered in the forest along Ijebu-Ode road where the kidnappers dumped it.
Oyo police boss, Abiodun Odude identified the suspects as Abdullahi Musa, 37; Isah Tambaya , 20; Yuguda Yusuf, 35; Aminu Ahmadu, 24; and Ojo John, 34.
Musa told newsmen that one of Aladeniyi’s staff invited other members of the gang, mainly fulani herders, for the operation and were given N20,000 each out of the money collected as ransom.
Musa added that they never had any intention of killing Aladeniyi until a member of the gang said the deceased would reveal their identities if he was released.
Police say the suspects will soon be charged to court.
