Fake and Expired Products Worth N1.3 Billion Destroyed by NAFDAC
Fake and expired drugs, estimated to be worth N1.3 billion, handed over to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), have been destroyed.
The activity, led by NAFDAC’s Director-General, Professor Moji Adeyeye, who was represented by Festus Ukadike, included drugs, hospital equipment, food items, cosmetics, and other products.
The items were handed over to NAFDAC by local and international organizations, including the World Food Programme (WFP), and were destroyed at a Kuje dump site in Abuja, the nation’s capital city.

This destruction comes just a month after NAFDAC destroyed goods worth N10.9 billion, obtained from five states in the Southeast and Kwara, in the country’s North Central zone.
At the previous event, held in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, Southwest zone Director Roseline Ajayi, representing Prof. Adeyeye, stated that the agency is committed to its responsibility to “mop out counterfeit regulated products from circulation to safeguard the health of citizens.”
