Lagos: Thugs allegedly set truck ablaze after driver refused to “settle the boss”

The heavy traffic you’re experiencing along Ikorodu highway can be partly blamed on “Fadeyi boys,” eyewitness are saying.

A truck driver was passing through the Fadeyi area of Ikorodu highway last night when he was allegedly blocked by hoodlums who demanded a “toll fee”.

Although the demand for such fees is illegal, it’s no new thing in Lagos State where powerful hoodlums and their boys simply “tax” the areas they “control”.

This image of the burning truck was captured on Saturday morning.

This particular truck driver, anyways, would have none of that…we were told. One thing led to another. The “area boys” set fire to the truck, eyewitnesses said.

Some say the incident happened around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday. Others said it happened 11:00 p.m. on Friday.

The authorities in charge of Lagos State roads failed to remove the truck from the highway.

Motorists hot the road on Saturday morning, and that’s how we got a huge traffic problem on our hands.

Witnesses say government agencies who failed to remove the truck before daylight should share in the blame.

Two more photos of the truck when it was ablaze…
