Face-off: APC ready to pounce, Okocha reveals 2027 election plot against Fubara
The raging battle for supremacy in Rivers State between former allies,Nyesome Wike who after stepping down as the Governor of Rivers state, now serves as the FCT Minister, and current Governor Similanayi Fubara has given the APC a reason to believe they can win the upcoming governorship poll scheduled for 2027.
The tension between the two PDP heavyweights has caused division in the party and on the verge of crumbling if they don’t meet on common ground.
With the stakes very high, Wike has however expressed readiness for a peaceful resolution if Fubara adheres to the rule of law.
Embattled former Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha while addressing Journalists in Abuja sent a warning to Fubara.
Okocha expressed that Fubara is going at a dangerous speed that he cannot handle. He noted that he is only creating problems for himself going against Wike.
While still speaking, he clarified that Fubara was never a politician and only became Governor because of the support Wike gave him.
He further stated that Wike has a very robust structure in Rivers and no politician in the nearest future can crumble that structure
“I can say to you that for the next 10 years, I do not see any politician destroying the political structure Wike has in Rivers State”.
“I’m not God, but I’m talking about what is possible within human possibility. Wike’s structure cannot be destroyed. It is not possible, not so soon. Let’s leave it there”, he said.
Ahead of the 2027 governorship election, Okocha made it clear that APC right now is focused on de-marketing Fubara.
He emphasised that “Fubara is creating problems for himself. It is our business to demarket him and his party for us to win in 2027”.
