BREAKING: Cars burnt, many injured as gas explosion rocks Ikeja
An explosion at a Mobil petrol station located along Obafemi Awolowo Way, in Ikeja, the capital of Lagos, caused a fire outbreak that burned at least four vehicles and left several people injured.
The explosion, which occurred around 11 am on Thursday, happened while a gas tank was supplying at the plant. The severe explosion damaged cars outside the filling station as well. One of the passengers in a public bus outside the station was injured.
The incident caused fear among residents and workers in the area, who were forced to run for their lives and scramble to safety. Eyewitnesses and emergency service officials on the scene told Neusroom that no lives were lost, but many people were injured.

Witnesses also reported that some of the injured were rushed to hospitals in private vehicles and 10-seater buses (Korope) before ambulances arrived.
Although emergency services eventually transported injured people to the hospital, Neusroom observed that they arrived about 10-20 minutes after the explosion.
