Entries open for maiden Nigerian Marketing Awards as prize aims to become rallying point for industry professionals

Nigerian Marketing Awards

The Nigerian marketing communication industry has been inspiring creativity and delivering top-notch marketing campaigns for more than three decades. From executing some of the world’s most inspiring brand campaigns to delivering iconic projects that have put Nigeria on the world map of marketing communication, the industry keeps maintaining global standards.

As the industry grows bigger in size and impact, moving from ₦91 billion in revenue in 2012 to about ₦300 billion in 2019, with industry players also breaking new grounds globally, the Nigerian Marketing Awards (NMA) is making its debut to recognise the work of professionals and organisations putting the country on the global map.

According to Tony Agenmonmen, the immediate past President and Chairman of Council, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), the NMA is designed to encourage and stimulate hard work, innovation and overall high quality in marketing planning and execution in Nigeria across 31 categories, covering advertising, public relations, experiential marketing, public sector marketing, influencer marketing, hospitality, technology, and journalism among others.

Entries for the NMA, which will be submitted online through www.nma-ng.com, open on Monday, August 15 and closes Friday, September 30, 2022. Organisers say eligible entries must be work executed between August 15, 2021, and August 14, 2022.

The 12-man judging panel for the NMA known as Awards Decision Council is led by Ekwunife Okoli, Founder/CEO of Advantage Consult Ltd and former Managing Director, Africa Regional Markets, Diaeg0.

“The panel is comprised of seasoned marketing professionals, accomplished experts in the marketing field and leaders in the industry… We have implicit confidence in the distinguished members of the Awards Decision Council to deliver the quality expectations of this awards,” Agenmonmen said.

NMA will also celebrate the next generation of industry leaders as well as those in the relatively uncelebrated field – the academia, through the Marketing Student of the Year and Marketing Educator of the Year categories.

Although in its first season, the NMA sets its sight on becoming the biggest and the rallying point for all marketing professionals in Nigeria in the coming years.

In keeping with this commitment, Agenmonmen said “we have obtained the full endorsement of the following industry sectoral groups; Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) and Outdoor Advertisers Association of Nigeria (OAAN). The sectoral groups will also have full representation in the judging panel – Awards Decision Council. This is a first in the industry. This formidable partnership promises to raise the overall quality of marketing and marketing awards in Nigeria.”

To boost the credibility of the awards, Agenmonmen said organisers “have commenced the process of obtaining international certification for the Awards. We are very hopeful that this process will be concluded shortly.”
