#EndBadGovernanceProtest: Kano Gov, Yusuf, hands 76 freed minors to parents

Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has handed over the 76 minors who were arrested for partaking in the recent #EndBadGovernance protests back to their parents.

The handover of the children to their parents happened at the Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital and was overseen by Chief of Staff to the Governor, Shehu Sagagi, on behalf of the Governor.

At the hospital, the children were treated for siickness they contacted during their time in custody.

“I want to call on parents to complement the government’s efforts towards ensuring these children are properly educated to enable them to contribute towards the development of the state and the country.

“Both the Federal and state governments have to also wake up to ensure that our children are educated,” Yusuf said.

The Gvernor hailled President Bola Tinubu for ensuring the minors were released.

On parents who have an association and using same to seek funding from members of the public, teh Givernor warned against such actions.

According to him, the state Commissioner for Education would see to it that the children are assisted in returning to their different schools.

In turn, the state Commissioner for Education, Haruna Doguwa, announced that one of the protesters, a final-year undergraduate, would receive assistance to finish his studies.

Doguwa also assured that another protester holding a National Certificate in Education would be given employment.

“We have provided (cambus) shoes, two sets of uniforms for the 50 others to be supported to complete their secondary school education,” Doguwa said.
