Embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki rejected FG’s offer to attend father’s burial
Embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki rejected the Federal Government’s offer to attend his late father, Ibrahim Dasuki’s burial in Sokoto on Tuesday.
Dasuki has been in DSS detention on multiple charges of money laundering for allegedly diverting the $21 million meant for arms’ purchase during the Jonathan administration.
There had been insinuations in some quarters that President Muhammadu Buhari prevented Dasuki from attending the former Sultan of Sokoto’s burial but Abdulrahman Dambazau, Minister of interior disclosed that Dasuki actually rejected the federal government’s offer to attend his dad’s final burial rites.
“We had discussed with the Director-General, DSS, yesterday and Sambo was offered to visit his late father on his hospital bed in Abuja,” Dambazau said while addressing newsmen in Sokoto on Tuesday.
“He declined and said he preferred to pray for him. He was also offered to be in Sokoto throughout the mourning period and he also declined, preferring to pray for his late father. That was the true situation.”
Ibrahim Dasuki, the 8th Sultan of Sokoto died on Monday in an Abuja Hospital at the age of 93.
