Eight suspects arraigned for beheading policeman in Plateau
The police in Plateau state has arraigned eight persons accused of beheading Sgt. Yunana Ishaya, a policeman from Jos North area of the state.
Abubakar Mohammed, Hussaini Musa, Abubakar Sani, Mohammed Zubairu, Mohammed Doma, Sadiq Abubakar, Abdulahi Mohammed, and Ibrahim Usman were charged with culpable homicide.
Leveling charges against the accused persons at Plateau High Court on Wednesday, the prosecutor, Mr. E.A. Inigbenoise informed the court that the crime was committed on September 1, 2018.
The assailants were said to have attacked the Seargent within the vicinity of Gordons Hotel, along Zaria Road in Farin Gada area of Jos North, Plateau state. He was reportedly hacked with an axe before they went ahead to behead him.
Mr. Inigbenoise was firm in seeking justice against the suspects who pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against them.
Presiding over the case, Justice A.I. Ashoms ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison as he adjourned the hearing to December 14, 2018.
