Domestic Violence: Man machetes wife, kills self in son’s presence in Delta
A man identified as Victor Lazarus reportedly killed himself after dealing his wife several matches blows on Monday.
Lazarus was said to have inflicted deep machete cuts on his wife, Evangelist Promise, in the presence of their son for reasons unknown.
The deceased killed himself as the son raised alarm.
The wife, Promise is now in critical condition at the ICU of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba.
The Public Relations Officer of Delta State Police Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, who confirmed the incident said the couple was in a pool of blood following the arrival of the police at their home along Ibusa Road, Asaba.
Aniamaka said the couple was rushed to FMC Asaba, but Lazarus died shortly after.
The incident occurred shortly after Promise returned from a journey Monday evening.
Their son then alerted neighbours before police arrived at the scene to find Lazarus laying lifelessly.
