Do you know: Nigeria’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day was initially on November 11
January 15, 2018
Today January 15 is a day dedicated to the remembrance of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
It may be surprising to learn that the historical day, was initially not January 15. As a member of the British Empire during colonial years and later as member of the Commonwealth, the remembrance day was celebrated on November 11.
January 15 was chosen to mark Nigeria’s fallen hero as a result of the civil war which ended on January 15 1970.
The day is marked with ceremonies that include laying of wreaths at the site of military graves and monuments.
