In a reported fit of rage a senior Nigerian lawmaker allegedly threatened to impregnate a female colleague who disagreed with him over a controversial issue.

Senator Dino Melaye was reportedly enraged at Remi Tinubu, wife of prominent Nigerian politician and former Lagos governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for calling his argument “childish”.

The Nigerian Senate met behind closed doors on Tuesday to discuss alleged plans by the judiciary to try senior lawmakers over allegations of forgery.

An unnamed senator who was at the meeting reportedly leaked details of Melaye’s rage at Senator Tinubu.

Melaye allegedly urged his colleagues to summon and humiliate the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for daring to try Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu for forgery.

Dino Melaye had in the past said he was ready to die for Saraki.

Melaye also allegedly threatened to kill any senator, or anyone for that matter, who dares testify against Saraki in the forgery case.

“Let’s stop making childish threats,” Remi Tinubu reportedly said when given a chance to speak.

The comment triggered Melaye’s anger neuron and he flew into uncontrollable rage, the source is reported to have said.

“I will beat you up on this floor and nothing will happen,” Melaye reportedly shouted at Tinubu. Other lawmakers were said to have rallied to protect the female lawmaker for fear Melaye could beat her up.

Saraki reportedly nodded (in approval or otherwise or whatever) as Melaye raged on.

“I will impregnate you and nothing will happen,” the raging senator is also quoted to have threatened.

What Melaye meant by “impregnate” is unclear but, according to biology, there are two major ways to get a women pregnant: by sexual encounter or by artificial insemination.

We’re not sure Remi Tinubu, a lawfully married woman, would allow Melaye sleep with her. So the rampaging senator may have to force his way in. That would be rape.

But Dino Melaye has denied making the comments.

“It is pertinent to note that the incredulously machinated misinformation was orchestrated by forces bent on destabilizing the upper chambers of the Nigerian Parliament for selfish reasons,” Melaye said in a statement..
