Death Toll Rises to 53,486 as Fresh Israeli Strikes Kill 44 in Gaza
At least 44 people, mostly women and children, were killed across Gaza on Tuesday in renewed Israeli airstrikes, pushing the total war death toll to 53,486, according to the territory’s health ministry.
Gaza’s civil defence agency reported the latest fatalities, with spokesman Mahmud Bassal saying, “Civil defence teams have transferred at least 44 dead… following new massacres committed by the occupation.”
Eight people died in a strike on a school in Gaza City, 12 in a house in Deir el-Balah, 15 at a gas station near Nuseirat, and nine in Jabalia refugee camp, he added.
After a short period of ceasefire, Israel resumed its offensive on March 18, and launched extensive ground operations on Sunday, saying it aims to defeat Hamas, whose October 7 attack killed 1,218 people and led to 251 hostages being taken.
