Petrol Now N825 at Dangote Refinery as Marketers Get N10 Refund
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has discreetly lowered the effective price of petrol to N825 per litre, offering customers a N10 rebate per litre after loading, according to Punch Newspaper.
Although the refinery’s official ex-gantry price remains N835, marketers are refunded N10 after evacuating the product, effectively reducing their purchase cost. This rebate — a partial refund given after payment — is not publicly announced but is being quietly implemented to give Dangote’s fuel a pricing edge over imported petrol.
“The Dangote refinery has started giving a rebate on its products. It’s not an official reduction yet, but paid back after marketers buy products from them,” a source familiar with the development told Punch.
As a result, petrol from the refinery is now being retailed by marketers at a lower band of N830 to N835 per litre — undercutting private depots and importers struggling with higher landing costs.
This marks the latest in a series of price adjustments by the Dangote refinery, which last month slashed its gantry price twice in one week, dropping from N880 to N835 per litre. The move came after the federal government reinstated the Naira-for-Crude policy that allows local refiners to access crude in exchange for naira payments.
