Danfo driver bags jail term for stabbing LASTMA official on duty

The commercial bus driver, Kenneth Anyanwu who stabbed a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official, Olanrewaju Yusuf has been sentenced to one year in prison by a Lagos State Mobile Court sitting in Oshodi.

Anyanwu committed the offence on April 26, on Ikorodu Road near Palm Grove Bus Stop, inward Onipanu.

Yusuf had attempted to arrest Anyanwu for picking passengers at undesignated bus stops between Obanikoro and Palm Grove, but the driver resisted.

He picked a broken bottle and aimed for Yusuf’s neck, but Yusuf raised his hand to parry the blow and was slashed in the process.

The bus diver was convicted by court Magistrate Ikobayo following his guilty plea to a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.
