Cross River: Kidnapped catholic priest released after abductors receive ransom

A Catholic priest kidnapped in Cross River, Rev. Father Cyril Effiong Essien, has been released after a huge sum was paid as ransom to the kidnappers.
According to reports, the ransom was dropped for the kidnappers in an undisclosed location and the victim was released some hours later.
The Catholic Priest, Rev. Father Cyril Effiong Essien was kidnapped on Friday night at the Catholic Church in Awi, in Akamkpa local Government Area of Cross River State.
An eyewitness said that the incident occurred shortly after the Church’s evening program. He said over five heavily armed men invaded the church premises, shot in the air and whisked the priest away.
