Chaos in Kano as #EndBadGovernance protest turns violent
The #EndBadGovernance protests in Kano took a devastating turn as some protesters resorted to chaos, looting and vandalism.
Earlier today, the protesters invaded a popular Rufaidah Yoghurt store on Hadejia Road, Kano, and looted the premises, making off with valuable items such as food products, electronics, and furniture.
The violence escalated as the protesters also targeted a yet-to-be-commissioned industrial park belonging to the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC). The facility was ransacked, with protesters stealing various appliances, including computers, air conditioners, and generators.
Parts of the premises were also set ablaze, causing significant damage and disruption to the community.
Videos circulating on social media showed chaotic scenes of protesters fleeing with stolen items, including furniture, mattresses, and bags of rice. The looting spree has raised concerns about the escalating violence and the potential for further unrest, as well as the impact on local businesses and residents.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as “pandemonium,” with protesters overpowering security officials and breaking into buildings. The looting has resulted in significant losses for business owners, who have expressed frustration and disappointment at the lack of protection from authorities.
The situation has also raised fears about the safety of citizens and their properties, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent further violence and looting. Local leaders and community organizations have appealed for calm and dialogue to address the underlying issues driving the protests.
