Cameroonian general leading fight against Boko Haram dies in helicopter crash

A Cameroonian General leading the fight against Boko Haram, Jacob Kodji was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday, AFP reports.
Kodji had been a prominent coordinator in the fight against the terrorist sect.
He was killed, along three others, when the Cameroonian military helicopter they were travelling in crashed in Bogo region in the far north, a senior military official said.
“They were on a mission in Waza Park as part of an operation to battle Boko Haram,” the official said.
Kodji is reportedly the first Cameroonian general to be killed while leading a fight against Boko Haram. He was said to have gallantly led Emergence 4, the name given to one of the operations launched by Cameroon against insurgents.
Boko Haram insurgents have continuously found their way into Cameroon, Chad and Niger through the border since being pushed out of their strongholds by the Nigerian Army.
