Buhari, Ambode mourn late Lagos industrialist, Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi
Late Chief Rasheed Gbadamosi, a renowned Lagos industrialist who died on Wednesday, November 16 has been hailed by President Buhari and state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode as an exemplary economist who “paid his dues” over the years.
Buhari, in his statement, praised the “meritorious and exemplary roles Chief Gbadamosi played not only as a minister, but also as a former chairman of the Bank of Industry (BoI) and the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency (PPPRA).
“There is no doubting the fact that the economic development of Nigeria was always uppermost in his mind,” the President said.
Ambode recalled working with Chief Gbadamosi as a member of the Lagos @50 Committee, describing him as a “sound economist, one of the best in his generation. His passion to serve his fatherland was never in doubt.”
“He was a proud son of Lagos State who had paid his dues over the decade,” a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Habib Aruna said.
“A financial guru and a public administrator per excellence who would never shy away from letting people know that he was a thoroughbred Lagos boy born in Ikorodu.”
Ambode commiserated with the family of the late economist and urged them to take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and continued to render meritorious service to the state until his demise.
Chief Gbadamosi will be buried by 2pm today, November 17. He was aged 72.
