Breaking: 13 Reported Dead in Renewed Herdsmen Attack in Benue
Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed thirteen persons in Azege settlement, Mbaya, Tombo Ward, Logo Local Government Area in Benue State.
The immediate past Caretaker Chairman of Logo Local Government, Hon. Benjamin Uzenda, confirmed the incident.
The incident is said to have happened at about 7 a.m on Sunday.
The latest attack has left farmlands in the area destroyed, as well as arson and loss of lives.
“They were armed with sophisticated weapons and immediately opened fire on residents who were preparing to attend morning church service.
“It looks like a coordinated plan of attacks as they open fire on the harmless villagers, butchered some bodies after shooting them, and gun down women and children.
“The Invaders operated for hours, and fled before security personnel arrived at the scene of the incident,” Uzenda confirmed.
Neusroom gathers that residents of the area are fleeing in mass for fear of their safety and security.
