Boko Haram: Kaduna bans hawking, begging after Zaria bomb deaths
By Olabisi Yakub

No thanks to Boko Haram, things are about to get worse for Kaduna residents dependent on hawking petty goods, and begging.
The Kaduna state government said it is placing an embargo on both activities in order to curb terrorism.
The announcement came after a suspected Boko haram suicide bomber killed 25 people at a government lodge in Zaria, Tuesday.
A two-year-old baby is among the dead.
“All beggars and hawkers are to stay off the streets until further notice,” Governor Nasir El-Rufa’i’s media aide, Samuel Aruwan, said in a statement.
“Any beggar or hawker found on the streets will be arrested, until these measures are relaxed.”
The measure was taken to “enhance public security,” the statement said.
“The government has also announced further measures to enhance public security in the state.
“In addition, government reiterates that the ban on motorcycle taxis (achaba) remains in force, and the law will be strictly enforced in this regard.”
Until the ban is relaxed, hawkers and beggars, whose lives more be tough already; may go thorough harsher times.
