BBOG campaigner Aisha Yesufu rejects hijab ban, says it’s anti-Islam

A Hijab is a veil that covers the head and chest, which is often worn by Muslim women in the presence of adult males outside of their immediate family as a form of modest attire.
If the government can’t ban people from driving because Boko Haram employ car bombs; then it shouldn’t ban women from using the hijab which is also used by the terrorists.
Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) advocate Aisha Yesufu blew hot on Twitter, Sunday Morning.
She was responding to recent calls by some Nigerians for the government to outlaw the hijab, which has become a tool in the hands of Boko Haram’s female suicide bombers. They use it to blend into the predominantly Muslim population of Nigeria’s northeast where terror attacks are a norm.
The call trails the ban Chad and Cameroon placed on the hijab.
“I respect your choices and beliefs, all I’m saying is if the evil people are using your dressing to kill you, change it,” university lecturer Olasumbo Apanpa (@apanpa_olasumbo) said in a tweet @AishaYesufu.
“It’s like saying we should stop going to mosques, churches, markets and schools because they attack those places,” Yesufu replied the tweep.
“The Hijab is not the issue,” Aisha said in response to another tweet by Apanpa.
“It’s just that people are more focused on the Hijab rather than on the women being used,” she said.
“It’s like one with cancer and you are bothered about the hair loss. The cancer is the problem not the hair loss.”
Then the conversation went on, and on. You really should join in.
Boko Haram has killed over 15,000 people in Nigeria since 2009. The terrorists have stepped up their deadly attacks since Muhammadu Buhari became president on May 29.
The insurgents, whose claim to Islam has been debunked by prominent Muslims, angered the world when they abducted over 200 girls from a town in the northeastern state of Borno last year.
Yesufu and former education minister Obiageli Ezekwesili lead the BBOG which continually demands the schoolgirls be rescued.
Boko Haram terrorists, who are also accused of recruiting “Christians,” use hijab-wearing teenage girls to carry out suicide bombings.
No one is sure if Buhari, reputed to be a devout Muslim, will approve a ban on the hijab if his security advisers deem the step necessary to stop the senseless killings.
