Bala Mohammed To Withdraw 2027 Presidential Ambition For Goodluck Jonathan
Bauchi State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Bala Mohammed, has announced that he will withdraw his candidacy if former President Goodluck Jonathan decides to run for the presidency in 2027.
Mohammed made this statement after receiving an award from the Save Africa Initiative, a non-governmental organization, which urged him to consider running for the presidency. The governor expressed his admiration for Jonathan’s leadership and experience, stating that he would better manage the country.
Mohammed, who served as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under Jonathan, praised his former boss’s inclusive leadership style, citing initiatives like addressing the Almajiri system and creating programs for unemployed youths. He emphasized that Jonathan’s experience and leadership recruitment skills make him an ideal candidate for the presidency.
While contemplating his presidential bid, Mohammed acknowledged the need for rotation of the PDP’s presidential ticket, stating that the South should produce the president for eight years. However, he emphasized that they must “earn it.”
Mohammed also criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu, citing the need to reconsider policies like subsidy removal if they are not benefiting the people.
