No fewer than 36 Nigerian soldiers could have died in a road crash on Friday, but they didn’t.
They however sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The troop, according to reports, was headed to Azare on a special operation when the accident occurred along Gaya-Jahun Federal highway, Friday morning.
An eyewitness said the truck conveying the soldiers was hit from behind by another vehicle.
But Kano FRSC sector commander, Aminu Umar Jakapa, in a statement, said no other vehicle was involved in the accident.
“It was a lone road traffic accident involving military truck with registration number NA 1716 BO5 conveying 36 soldiers,” he said.
He added that the injured officers had been transferred to Dutse General Hospital..
