Atiku, Sanwo-Olu, Condemns #IgboMustGo Threat in Lagos, Demands Investigation.
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has publicly condemned the protest for the Igbo people to leave Lagos and the South-West region of Nigeria. The controversial message, shared on X by an account named Lagospedia on July 27, 2024, urged Lagosians to prepare for a massive protest under the hashtag #IgboMustGo from August 20 to 30, 2024.

Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to Sanwo-Olu, Gboyega Akosile, released a statement on Thursday, August 1, denouncing the post as “reckless, divisive, and dangerous, emphasizing that the state is a home for all Nigerians, regardless of ethnicity.

He also emphasised that Governor Sanwo-Olu thinks the social media post is harmful and designed to create conflict between the Yoruba people and other ethnic groups, particularly those who live in Lagos. He (Sanwo-Olu) urges residents not to let such posts cause trouble and asks the authorities to investigate and punish those responsible. The Governor also encourages everyone to ignore the post and assures that he will work harder to maintain peace in the state.
