“Atiku never called me” – Widow of late Lt. Col Sakaba debunks presidential candidate’s claim
Atiku Abubakar has been called out for lying. The Presidential candidate claimed to have rang the phone of late Lt. Col Ibrahim Sakaba’s widow, in the spirit of Christmas.
Sakaba had been killed when Boko Haram insurgents infiltrated the military base in Metele, Borno State in November. He was one of 100 soldiers reportedly killed.
The PDP candidate who has been vocal about various incidents across the country said on his Twitter on Sunday: “This Christmas I urge all Nigerians to spare a thought for our military on the frontlines of the war on terror.
“I had cause to telephone Lt. Col. Ibrahim Sakaba’s widow this Yuletide. I am touched by her devotion and love for her husband who paid the supreme sacrifice for Nigeria.”

But Sakaba’s widow quickly debunked the claim on her Instagram.
“I didn’t receive your call sir,” she wrote in the caption of a screenshot of Atiku’s post.
Some Nigerians say Atiku’s “ploy” to look good in the books of the people with the post has backfired. They say he’s telling lies to win election in 2019.
