ASUU Reaches Agreement With Federal Government

 

Finally,soothing news, as reports have shown that the academic staff union of universities ASUU have finally reached an agreement with the federal government to suspend their ongoing strike.

This conclusion was made after a marathon meeting held by both parties that reportedly started at about 2:30pm on Thursday evening and ended at about 2:15am on Friday morning.

The ASUU president, Biodun Ogunyemi has admitted that the concession of the government to honour the 2009 agreement by releasing the sum of N220 billion not later than October 2017,to fund the revitilization of federal universities was indeed ‘Concrete’.

But the proposals, according to ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, will be taken to the National Executive Committee meeting of the union for consideration and subsequently return to government on the next step that would be taken.

The union could call off the strike within seven days.
