Ali Modu Sheriff, an alleged Boko Haram sponsor, emerges PDP chairman

Former Borno State governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, is the new chairman of Nigeria’s largest opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sheriff’s emergence, Friday, is sending massive shockwaves into Nigeria’s political atmosphere.
The former Borno governor allegedly bankrolls Boko Haram’s terrorism. He denies the allegations.
PDP has been without a national chairman since Ahmadu Mu’azu was removed after the party lost the presidency to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The emergence of Sheriff as Mu’azu’s successor was, however, not expected.
PDP spokesperson Olisa Metuh, on Tuesday, told journalists at the Abuja’s Wadata plaza secretariat of the party that all organs of the PDP agreed on Sheriff.
There are indications PDP’s Board of Trustees would reject Sheriff..
