Adesanya Sends Message To Du Plessis After UFC Loss
Nigerian UFC great, Israel Adesanya, has sent a message to UFC Middleweight Champion, Dricus Du Plessis, after his loss.
The South African downed “The Last Style Bender” in their early morning fight on Sunday at Perth, Australia.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 305 epic matchup saw Israel Adesanya bow to a 4th round submission loss.
The fight looked to be going either way, with both fighters cancelling each other out in the first round.
Adesanya, in particular, dodged numerous attempts by his South African rival at a submission.
In Round 2, Du Plessis turned the game on its head when he felled Izzy three times, with the Nigerian recovering each time.
The third round saw Adesanya take the fight to his rival and hit pretty good combinations that dazed Du Plessis.
In Round 4, however, two hook combinations was followed with a submission choke by Du Plessis, which left Adesanya with no choice but to yield.
Following the loss, Adesanya had nothing but glowing remarks for his rival.
“I’m happy to fight again,” Adesanya began.

“I appreciate all the energy from yours. Congrats @dricusduplessis, thank you for your honest words and speaking your truth.
“No matter what, Africa won tonight! DPP, you have the torch, light the fire and inspire.
“Dricus is an African Champion, but the three Kings will reign supreme.
“He is gonna inspire another generation of African fighters as well. Congrats to him tonight,” Adesanya stated.
In reaction, Du Plessis also hailed the Nigerian, describing him as a “legend.”
“To share this Octagon with a legend. This man has done so much for this sport and I’m really sorry it came across that I disrespected he was from Africa.
“It was never my intention. Tonight, Africa won regardless,” Du Plessis said.
Following the fight, UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Alex Perreira, declared his intention to fight Du Plessis.
Whether the South African accepts the challenge is yet to be seen.
