Adamawa man to undergo psychiatric evaluation after manner of Tinubu’s resignation call
30-year-old Abdullahi Mohammed has been admitted and is awaiting psychiatric examination at the Yola Psychiatric hospital after clamoring for Tinubu to resign from a 33 kv high tension electricity pole in Mayo-Belwa last Friday.
This was disclosed through Adamawa Police Public Relations command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, while speaking with Arewa PUNCH in an exclusive interview on Friday.
SP Nguroje said Mohammed was in possession of some hard drugs including green leaves which he confessed to be Indian hemp when he was rescued from the high tension pole by the Moyo-Belwa division Police.
He further said that when the police were trying to interact with him and find out why he climbed the 33 kv high tension pole, they discovered he was acting strange.
Mohammed when quizzed further on the drugs in his possession confessed to smoking Indian hemp and abusing other hard drugs.
The Adamawa PPRO said they are awaiting the result of the examination before charging him to court because ‘suicidal attempt’ is a criminal offense, as it negates the constitutional duty of the police which is to ‘protect lives and property’. Anyone who decides to do otherwise, should face the law, he insisted.
In his words, he said “you know attempting to commit sucide is a criminal offence under our Constitution, so we are going to charge him to court.”
Reports suggest that Mohammed climbed the Poll on Friday morning and came down on Saturday evening after locals joined the police in appealing to him to come down.
