Just as Nigerians have heightened the clamour for young candidates to direct the affairs of the nation, a 75-year-old has emerged governorship candidate in Plateau State.

A Senator currently representing Plateau south, Jeremiah Useni, emerged winner in PDP’s governorship primary election held on Sunday.

Useni, who beat 12 other aspirants to the party’s ticket, will now contest against APC’s candidate and incumbent, Simon Lalong in 2019.

Useni was Governor Bendel State (now Edo State and Delta State) from 1984 – 1985.

He was also Chairman Nigerian Railway Corporation from 1977 to 1981, Minister of Transport and Aviation from 1985 to 1988, Minister of the FCT from 1993 to 1998.
