24 alleged Yahoo boys answer to cases of fraud before Ogun court

A Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has heard the case of fraud against 24 alleged Yahoo boys.

The EFCC accuse the defendants who are students of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) and the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), of involving in various cyber crimes.

Ten of the defendants – – Agboola Taiwo, Adetayo Tade Ademiluyi, Rabiu Daniel, Sokoya Oluwaseyi, Fredrick Shaibu, Oshikoya Gbolahan, Adegbola Kazeem Aina, Ademosun Opeyemi, Tosin Awobona and Babarinde Jacob – were arraigned on Monday.

The other fourteen defendants – Adeleke Oluwamayowa, Banjo Femi, Towolawi Olanrewaju, Tijani Babatunde, Sarafadeen Abibullahi, Adebowale Abimbola, Osunkoya Korede, Mufutau Yusuf Akorede,  Salisu Ajibola, Olamikan Oluwasiji, Oduwole Gbenga, Damilare Adelaja, Bakare Azeez Adebola and Edward Ayodeji – were arraigned on Tuesday.

The students face separate charges bordering on obtaining money by false pretences, impersonation and possession of fraudulent documents.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charges against them before Justice Ibrahim Watilat.

The court granted six out of the first ten defendants bail but denied four. All the other fourteen defendants were also granted bail.

The defendants are to remain in prison custody until their bail conditions are met.

Trial of the first set of defendants has been fixed for January 28, 2019, while the second set will appear in court on 5th, 6th, 7th and 12th of February, 2019.
