2 Zamfara State education officials convicted of money laundering
Two officials of the Zamfara State universal basic education board, Gambo Lawal Tsafe and Kasimu Mohammed were yesterday, November 23 sentenced to a fine of N800,000 and N100,000 respectively.
Both officials were convicted by Justice Fatima Murtala of the Federal High court, Gusau after they plead guilty to charges of money laundering.
The first convict, Gambo Lawal was sentenced to pay a fine of N800,000, a sum which is equivalent to five times the amount he benefited, N160,000.
Kasimu Mohammed, the second convict, was sentenced to pay a fine of 100,000, also five times equivalent of the N20,000 he benefitted.
In addition, both convicts were ordered to refund the proceeds of their crime, N160,000 and N20,000 respectively, to the Federal Government through the EFCC.
