10 photos show Boko Haram’s fall after 365 days of Buratai

On July 13, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari named Borno-born General Tukur Buratai Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
The appointment trailed renewed terrorist attacks by Boko Haram, a group Buhari vowed to silence.
Buratai has been COAS for a little over a year. The following pictures sum up what Boko Haram looks like under the general.
1. Arrogant Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has gone silent. What happened?

2. Even a “new” Boko Haram leader who claimed to have taken over from Shekau can’t seem to find his voice.

3. The Maiduguri-Dikwa-Gamboru road was shut since 2013 because Shekau and his blood-sucking demons won’t stop killing Nigerians. The road was reopened on July 6 with Shekau nowhere to be found.
Now, that’s progress.
4. Picture of the year: Pure joy on the faces of Nigerian soldiers as some of the people displaced by Boko Haram return home.

5. Boko Haram terrorists now flee from gallant Nigerian soldiers. But the soldiers continue to intercept and finish the terrorists off.

6. Nigerian soldiers are now so gallant Boko Haram terrorists are being smoked out of their holes.

7. Under Buratai, Nigerian soldiers have regained the respect they deserve.

8. And Nigerians can hope again as a Chibok girl returns home.
9. Nigerian troops continue to rescue hundreds of Boko Haram abductees.
10. It’s part of what Buhari promised. Buratai and gallant Nigerian soldiers are making that happen 365 days on.
